The result of thirty years field work and study the aim of this book is to help anyone interested in understanding this difficult genus hawkweed make a start a see the way forward. Included are details of hawkweed recording in Yorkshire, guidance on species identification and the importance of various features which are defined, explained and illustrated. Many common lowland species in Yorkshire are found nationally and so will be of interest and use to hawkweed enthusiasts elsewhere in the country.
A full set of hierarchical identification keys to sections, to groups/aggregates and to species is included and all 117 Yorkshire species and covered including key features, ecology, frequency and distribution illustrated by tetrad dot maps and eight figure grid references are given for rare and scarce species.
