The author, a former president of the Botanical Society of the British Isles (BSBI), has botanised in the Berwickshire and the Scottish borders for over 40 years. Here, he explores and celebrates the wildflowers and the countryside of Berwickshire via the poems and notebooks of a local c19 poet, George Henderson of Chirnside, 1800-1864. Henderson was a keen amateur botanist and a witness to many of the changes in land use that gave rise to the landscape that we see today.
