During his brief career, John Samuel Budgett (1872-1904) published a number of papers on his many expeditions to Africa and investigations into the development of the genus Polyptera, although his devotion to his study led to his death from complications arising from malaria. This book, originally published three years after his death, was edited by his friend and colleague J. Graham Kerr and contains a complete collection of his zoological papers from 1899 to 1903, as well as a short biography of Budgett by famous zoologist Arthur Shipley. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in the history of zoology or embryology.
