Very dark brown cloth with gilt titled leather spine label; lightly rubbed boards, very lightly worn corners, wear to top and bottom of spine, some loss to a well rubbed spine label. Remains firmly bound. Internally foxing affects all pages, though mostl confined to the outer margins; otherwise fairly crisp, clean and bright; Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh sticker to FEP; a small number of pencil annotations.
The work is divided into 2 parts, the first comprising all the plants arranged in accordance with the Linnean system, the second part is devoted to the natural arrangement, beginning with Cryptogamia.
