The Tree Manual is a succinct pocket-sized guide for everyone with an interest in trees.
Complied and edited by Mark Chester in collaboration with industry experts, the main part of the book describes 36 of some of the UK’s best-loved trees, both native and introduced. Each entry is laid out in a two-page spread, with colour photos of the tree, plus magnified inserts of buds, leaves and bark. Key facts about the tree are clearly highlighted in a visually appealing and standard format, providing a simple to understand and easy to use guide.
Short sections point out some important aspects of the law in relation to trees, briefly describe some diseases of concern and show a few photos of some common fungi found in association with trees.
The editor, a consultant arboriculturist with a keen interest in developing educational resources, considers that the guide would be ideal for teachers, and families, but also useful as a quick reference guide for tree workers, to leave in the office, vehicle or on site.
