With Special Reference to Grampian, Scotland
Recent changes in forest policy reflect the Government’s multiple purpose approach to forestry and the desire that the products and benefits of the forest should be sustainable This classification is intended to provide a sound ecological basis for the management of forests for timber production,, wildlife conservation and other benefits. This paper introduces the broad methodology of the classification as it is applicable throughout Great Britain. This is then worked through in more detail for one region, namely Grampian in north-east Scotland.
