This open access book explores a new conceptual framework associated with climate change as well as an evaluation and the results obtained with the application of sustainable management in the boreal forest during the last ten years. The boreal forest covers a worldwide belt of 14 million km2 and represents about 25% of the world forest area. Two-thirds of this surface is managed for wood production that supply 37% of the world wood production. This book explains how boreal forests have a major role in the planet facing climate change (carbon sequestration, nutrients cycles, natural forest). These forests provide therefore natural resources and ecosystems services that are essential for humanity. Sustainable forest management is the main priority in the boreal biome so far, but these practices have not been adapted to climate change effects. The adaption and mitigation in the face of climate change are critical in boreal forests. Providing new strategies, reflections, recommendations is therefore essential for the academics, students, and practitioners to plan the future managements, to develop new research, and to know the current trends and challenges in the second biggest terrestrial biome in the planet: boreal forests.
