This is the first volume in a series which is intended in the future to cover all of the principal plant groups of the Brazilian Flora.
Arecaceae (palms) are of great importance. During the 15 years over which this study was made several new species were identified, some 10 species being presented here for the first time.
Over 300 taxa, species, varieties and natural hybrids are presented in a format similar to the Brazilian Trees series i.e. – each taxon represented on a single A4 page, with 3 photos, distribution map, and description. Dichotomous keys included.
