Since 1985, this Synopsis has been the standard work in English, providing the only generally-available means for correctly identifying earthworms and the easiest source of information on their biology and ecology. This edition, first published in 1999 as a revision to the first edition, is now back in print for 2009.
The volume starts with a review of the biology of earthworms (including physiology, reproduction, movement, feeding relationships and parasites) and practical methods (collection techniques, preservation of specimens and data recording). Accurate identification keys, focusing on distinctly recognisable external features, will aid identification of the 44 species featured.
