This is a collection of paperback journal articles by Salisbury on hornbeams, soil science, light & stomatal frequency, all bound into an A4 black cloth binding with gilt spine titles.
The first 4 are reprints from The Journal of Ecology, 1916-1925: 1&2) The Oak-Hornbeam Woods of Hertfordshire, parts 1-4 (1916 & 1918); 3) Stratification and Hydrogen-ion Concentration of the Soil in Relation to Leaching and Plant Succession, with Special Reference to Woodlands (1922); and 4) The Incidence of Species in Relation to Soil Reaction (1925). There follows an article from a German journal entitled The Light Climate of Woodlands (1935) and finally a copy of the 1927 Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London, Series B, Vol. 216, pp. 1-65 entitled On the Causes and Ecological Significance of Stomatal Frequency, with Special Reference to the Woodland Flora.
All are in crisp, clean and bright condition with the exception of the final journal which is a little bumped and has UCL library stamps. The black cloth binding is a little shelf worn and rubbed.
