“The Schramer’s treehouses are striking for their attention to detail, for their child-like sense of whimsy and their originality. They are enchanting; I have never seen anything like them.” —Agnes Gund, Past President, Museum of Modern Art, N.Y. “Husband and wife team Debbie and Mike Schramer craft a magical world in their artistic creations with nature as their inspiration." —National Endowment for the Arts “Debbie and Mike Schramer’s Fantasy Treehouse is a creation of pure whimsy, where fairies reside in decorated nooks and crannies of a magical tree.” —The Baltimore Sun

Author Biography

Mike and Debbie Schramer's nature art has been featured in many books, including Chairmania, Morning Glories, and Forget Me Not. Their work has also been in Travel and Leisure, Country Folk Art, and Faerie magazines as well as the Seattle Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times, among others. Their work has also been exhibited at the American Visionary Art Museum and the Seattle Art Museum, and the Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art has many of their intricate fairy pieces in their permanent collection. Their art has been collected and purchased by many well-known people, including film producer Gil Netter (Life of Pi, The Blind Side); actor Aidan Quinn; Jennifer Nicholson, daughter of actor Jack Nicholson; Mimi Danly, artist for Jim Henson; authors Mary Emmerling and Tricia Foley; and Bob Timberlake, artist, author, and designer. Just a few of the hundreds of shops that have carried the Schramers' nature art include Fillamento and Felissimo in San Francisco and New York and the Ferrin Gallery, the Utica, the Phoenix, the Panaca, and the Takashimaya galleries. Mike and Debbie's beautiful art pieces have been in New York department stores as well as in showrooms, art auctions, and major art and miniature shows in other parts of the country as well. Commissioned pieces were accepted in the catalogue Finishing Touches for several years and for the New York Toy Fair by artist and author Lauren Mills.
