This is the second published volume describing the flora of the Arabian Peninsula and the Socotran archipelago. Examining all the native flowering plants and ferns (3500–4000 species), as well as major crop and amenity plants of economic importance, the Flora covers Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. Volume 5, Part 1 is devoted to the grasses and includes accounts of approximately 470 species arranged in 20 tribes, accompanied by notes on ecology and distribution. In addition, there are 65 illustrations and keys to aid identification throughout the text, followed by distribution maps of each species.
