C. 1911 – 1934. 12 volumes + the index, each in a good quality black imitation / bonded half-leather binding with green silky textured cloth covered boards, gilt titles to spine and front boards and floral green endpapers, with the exception of the more recently bound volumes 10, 11 & 12, whose boards are of green linen, without the silky texture and appearance, and which have white endpapers. Lightly bumped with a little wear showing the cloth layer to the extremities of the spines. Vol 1 has some minor water damage to front cover and pencil marks to front endpaper. Internally very crisp and clean. Almost no foxing. Overall VG+. Photos available on request. All colour plates of species, as well as a large number of subspecies and varieties, are reproduced at half their natural size based on photographs. The main Table Generale (index) gives the names of families, genera, species, sub-species and varieties in Latin. There is also a table of plant families in French and a section on corrections and additions to the text. A beautiful, complete set.
