The result of more than ten years of collaboration between Jean-Marc Tison and Philippe Jauzein, two renowned botanists, and the Mediterranean National Botanical Conservatory of Porquerolles, this book is the first synthesis of the vascular flora of the following areas of Southern France – the Languedoc-Roussillon (Aude, Gard, Hérault, Lozère Pyrénées-Orientales) and part of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (Alpes-Maritimes Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Vaucluse). It treats all vascular plants, including spontaneous taxa, naturalized and weed species The flora will also be found useful for neighbouring regions in the south of France, as well as Spain and Northern Italy.
The flora covers 4131 species and follows the APG III Angiosperm Phylogeny Group recommendations. It uses a dichotomous key for identification as well as over 6000 line drawings. There are also 200 color photographs to aid identification of complex groups.
For each species there is a brief description detailing characteristics, distribution, and ecology.
