Design for circularity (also known as design for circular economy) aims to develop products that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. However, implementation of design for circularity is challenging due in part to a lack of practical information on how the philosophy as well as strategy can be implemented. ‘Design for Circularity: Green Materials and Lifecycle Extension Strategies’ addresses this challenge by providing fundamental and practical knowledge on design for circularity, especially for product development applications and throughout their entire lifecycle. Topics covered range from conceptual design to materials selection, environmental lifecycle assessment, and lifecycle extension strategies. Additionally there are a number of recent case studies showing design for circularity in practice in applications such as automotive component design, furniture design, user behaviour, and joining design. This book will be of particular interest to researchers, students, design practitioners, and engineers working with green materials, biocomposites, recycling, and materials from waste.
