This third edition of Norsk Lavflora (Norwegian lichen flora) is significantly expanded from the previous edition.
Norway has a very rich and varied lichen flora and the main purpose of the book is to present a representative selection of Norwegian lichen species. There are excellent colour photographs and short descriptions of more than 500 lichen species. In the previous edition, epiphytic lichen species were particularly emphasized. This is still the case, but in this edition there are a significant number of new species included that are found on rocks. Overall, the species selection represents a great breadth of habitat types and includes both common species and species that are rare and are only widespread in parts of the country. Introductory chapters cover the biology of lichens. Recent changes in taxonomy and relationships between taxa have been incorporated.
The book is intended for anyone interested in Norwegian nature and the environment, and will also be useful for teaching purposes
