Each volume of this series comes in two parts, the text and plates being bound in separate books, which can be purchased separately or as a set.

The text of volume 1 is in German with English summaries. It describes 89 genera (648 species) of gilled fungi, macromycetes with lamellar hymenophores in the orders Agaricales, Boletales and Polyporales . It includes 20 new taxa as well as 13 new taxonomic combinations. Each entry describes macro- and microscopic characters,
similar species, literature references, and details of the collections pictured. Microscopic details are illustrated with line drawings. An abbreviated key is provided for each genus
