Original green cloth with gilt spine titles and gilt front board illustration; hinges and joints solid but hinges just beginning to crack, light wear to corners and top and tail of spine, light marks to boards. Internally crisp, clean and bright with almost no foxing and very light age-toning. 12pp. prelims + 66 glorious hand-coloured plates by Walter Fitch, each facing their 1-3 page description ‘with the needful analyses of the fructification and venation’, followed by 5pp. Latin Index and 1p. English Index. Please note that this book was produced using a glueing method to attach the gatherings, rather than string; a small number of the gatherings in this copy have become unstuck and are therefore loosely inserted. Overall Good only due to binding issues. Photos available on request. A lovely example of this scarce 1st edition.
