A rare chance to buy the ‘complete’ set together. These were the only volumes ever published in this abandoned publication which was due to run to 10 volumes, providing a comprehensive study of British plants.
Vol. 2 – Text, vol. 2 Plates (Salicaceae to Chenopodiaceae), vol. 3 Text & vol. 3 Plates (Portulaceae to Fumariaceae).
Folio sized (28 x 38cm), quarter bound in linen with grey boards. All moderately rubbed and worn with cracked hinges. The text volumes remain firmly bound whilst the plate volumes have considerably more movement to them. Vol. 3 plates also has cracked joints and is therefore more fragile. Both Text volumes are lightly age toned and contain a small amount of pencil marginalia. The plates in the 2 Plates volumes are crisp, clean and bright.
All deaccessioned from the Forest Library, Oxford with small stamp + cancellation to FFEP, with the exception of Vol. 2 Plates which contains the ex libris sticker to FEP of C. S. Nicholson, who had a longstanding connections with the London Natural History Society.
Includes over 350 illustrated plates.
