This book is one of four volumes about Sweden’s 800 species of bryophytes (Bladmossor) . They give the reader practical advice on how to collect mosses and determine them and are suitable for both experienced bryologists and the curious beginner.
All texts are written in Swedish, but each species has a short English summary. Many high quality illustrations, distribution maps and illustrated identification keys in both Swedish and English makes the books useful for an international audience.
Previous volumes in this series have dealt with mosses in the class Bryopsida, a large group within the division Bryophyta. This fourth volume of the Encyclopedia of the Swedish Flora and Fauna covers 78 species of mosses from other classes that are found in Sweden – covering 11 moss genera in all. They are presented in systematic order with descriptions, pictures and distribution maps.
Determination keys are available for all included species. In addition, there is an introduction to bryophytes in general, plus keys for the classes, genera and species found in all four volumes.
