Third thousand. 1st printing of the 3rd edition containing the final textual alterations. Contemporarily bound by Field & co., Regent Street, in full tan leather with profusely decorated spine in gilt; gilt borders to the boards; gilt spine titles on green leather label; attractive blue and red marbled endpapers and edges to the textblock remaining bright. Hinges cracked, front joint cracked, rear joint starting: rear board remains strong but front a little delicate. Corners and top and tail of spine a little bumped and worn. Spine title label a little rubbed. Internally exceptionally crisp, clean and bright with almost no age toning and foxing confined to the first and last couple of leaves. Textblock near Fine but overall Good due to weak front joint. Photos available on request. A little attention to the joints would make this an exceptional copy.
