Full green leather binding with blind stamped front and rear covers with gilt borders, profuse gilt decoration to spine with 5 bands and gilt titles on a tan leather label; red and blue marbled endpapers and textblock edges. Lightly bumped and worn all round, binding tight. Internally crisp with some light age toning. Some light damp staining to the lower edge throughout, though is only noticeable on the plates. Gift inscription to 1st blank: “Thomas H. Sheridan on leaving Eton. July 1866.” followed by a signature. Overall Very Good. An attractive, lightly used copy. Photos available on request.
