The North Face Survey: Discovering the hidden side of Ben Nevis

The North Face of Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, has attracted botanists and geologists for over 200 years with it’s rich history of scientific and recreational use. The North Face Survey Project, which ran over three years from 2014-2016, saw huge success in the results of the survey findings, recording new geological features and many new localities for rare and scarce arctic-alpine plant species. The project team made significant discoveries with the ability to access unexplored areas of the mountain that were previously inaccessible to the scientific community, revealing some of this mountain’s closely held secrets.
