Purple blind stamped cloth with gilt spine titles, faded to tan on spine and edges of boards, corners bumped, wear to top and bottom of spine, top of front joint cracked 4.5cm, hinges cracked but binding still feels pretty solid. Internally crisp and clean for age, lightly age toned, more so at front and rear, most pages free from foxing. A very small number of pencil annotations and other light marks. No tears. Checked complete with iv pp. prelims followed by 1506 drawings of plants plus a selection of seeds over 131 single sided leaves – these are mostly arranged in a grid of 3 x 4 with 12 drawings per page, followed by an appendix showing drawings of seeds labelled with the plate number of the respective plant, followed by the late addition of a small selection of plants numbered 1492-1506. The plates are followed by 42pp. Latin name indexes, both alphabetical and following the Linnean system by which the plates are set out, and finally an English name index. Overall Good+.
