3rd edition. Book Condition: Very good.
1789. “New edition, corrected.” 18th / 19th century binding in half leather with marbled boards and gilt spine bands and titles; slightly younger cream endpapers. Externally bumped and worn at the extremities and a little soot soiled. Solidly bound. Internally crisp and clean however the leaves are uniformly heavily foxed and age-toned throughout, though without obscuring the text significantly. 7 plates: according to the “directions to the binder” there should be 8 plates – plate vii facing page 351 appears to be missing – however, there is a mispagination in that location as the page numbers go from 348 to 351 without any discontinuity in the text or signatures, so it is possible that all copies of this edition lack this plate. Overall Very Good. Photos available on request. This delightful herbal contains directions for the gathering and preserving of roots, herbs, flowers and seeds and other recipes with the necessary cautions.
