A beautifully illustrated guide to the marvellous and varied world of trees, and a charming walk through the hidden secrets of each of the 56 British species. Botanist and ecologist Ros Bennett always wanted her daughter Nell to share her love of nature. So they would go for walks, with Ros pointing out various woodland flora and fauna. What her daughter found particularly fascinating, though, was how to spot different trees. In Tree-spotting, Ros has decided to spread her fascination with the landscape around her further and show you how to identify the 56(ish) trees native to Britain, using Nell’s own illustrations of buds, twigs and bark to help guide you along the way. A beautiful and captivating insight to the wonderful world of trees, Tree-spotting buries down into the history, mythology and hidden secrets of each tree. More than a map to various species, it explores how our relationship with trees can be very personal, and hopes to bring you closer to the natural world around you.
