One hundred years after E. Pages’s classic inventory, this guide provides an update on plant diversity in this region. An essential guide to this important area – the upper valley of the Mare has one fifth of plant species in mainland France – a majority of the 2500 floral species found in Upper Languedoc. The book updates knowledge of local plant diversity, appearance and disappearance of species, and variation in abundance or range, and salutes the pioneering work initiated in 1912. The bulk of the book is a systematic catalogue of the vascular plants with notes on location where they are found. Some entries are cross referenced to the relevant page if a colour photo is provided.
