Wild Flowers of Coastal Andalucia is a companion book to Wild Flowers of Eastern Andalucía (published in 2014).
This volume covers the flora of the Andalucían coastline along the Atlantic, Straits of Gibraltar and Mediterranean. Coverage extends up to about 1 kilometre inland to include wider coastal habitats of cliffs, salt marshes, ramblas and materials, in addition to beaches and dunes.
This field guide can be easily carried in a backpack. It describes a selection of more than 500 of the most characteristic species to be found on this beautiful and varied coast, illustrated with 700 photographs. Some species are special to the area but many of the species illustrated also grow on Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts further afield in Spain, Portugal and France.
The author, botanist Sarah Ball, has been a regular visitor to the area for many years on field courses for the University of Reading, the Eden Project and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
